  A little boy wanted to meet God.

  He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his
  suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer and started his
  journey.

  하느님을 만나고 싶어하는 어린 소년이 있었다.
  어느날 그는 트윙키 과자 몇개와 루트비어 6팩을 가방에 넣고 하느님을 만나러
  먼길을 떠났다.



  When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old man sitting in
  the park just staring at some pigeons.

  The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase.

  세블럭 정도 갔을때 소년은 공원 벤치에 않아 비둘기들을 구경하고 있는
  노인을 만났다.
  소년은 노인의 옆에 앉아 가방을 열었다.



  He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed
  that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.

  He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.

  루트비어를 마시려고 배낭을 열며 노인을 쳐다보니 배고파 하는것 같아 소년은
  그 노인에게 트윙키 과자 한개를 드렸다.



  His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again,
  so he offered him a root beer.

  Again, he smiled at him.

  The boy was delighted!

  그 노인이 케익을 받으며 얼굴에 미소를 띈 모습이 너무나 보기 좋아 소년은
  노인에게 루트 비어 한개를 드렸다.
  노인은 그것을 받으며 다시 미소를 보냈다.
  소년의 마음은 환희에 찼다.



  They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but never saying
  a word.

  As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and got up to  
  leave, but before he had taken more than a few steps, he turned
  around, ran back to the old man and gave him a hug.

  With this he received the old man’s biggest smile ever.

  그들은 한마디 이야기도 나누지 않은채 같이 않아 미소를 지으며 먹으면서
  오후를 보냈다.
  해가 질때가 다가오며 피곤함을 느낀 소년은 집에 가려고 일어섰다.
  몇 발자욱을 내딛다 무엇인가를 느낀 소년은 뒤돌아 뛰어와 노인의 품에 앉겨
  그를 꽉 껴앉았다.
  그순간 소년은 지금까지 보았던 것 보다 훨씬 더 행복한 노인의 미소를 보았다.

  

  When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later,
  his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face, and asked
  him, “What did you do today that made you so happy?”

  He replied, “I had lunch with God.”  “You know what; he’s got the
  most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen!”

  조금후 소년이 집에 돌아오자 그의 어머니는 소년의 얼굴에 가득찬 환희의
  표정을 보고 물었다.  
  오늘 무척 행복해 보이는데 뭘 하고 왔니?
  오늘 하느님과 같이 점심을 하고 왔어. 그런데 엄마 그거 알아?
  정말 하느님은 내가 여태까지 못 본 아름다운 미소를 갖고 있는 분이였어.



  Meanwhile, the old man also radiant with joy, returned to his home.

  His son was stunned by the look of peace on his father’s face and
  asked. “Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?”

  He replied.  “I ate Twinkies in the park with God.”  “You know, he’s
  much younger than I expected.”



  한편 노인도 역시 기쁨에 가득찬 얼굴로 집에 돌아갔다.
  그의 아들이 아버지의 얼굴에 가득한 평화스런 모습을 보고 물었다.
  오늘 무엇을 하셨길래 그리 행복해 보이세요?
  공원에서 하느님과 함께 트윙키를 먹었지.
  하느님이 생각보다 어리시더군...



  Too often we under-estimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind
  word, listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of
  caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

  Remember… people come into our lives for a reason, a season, or
  a lifetime.

  Embrace all equally!

  우리는 한순간의 접촉, 작은 미소, 친절한 말 한마디, 우리말을 경청해주는 태도,
  정직한 칭찬 한마다, 관심을 품은 작은 행위들을 과소평가하는 경우가 종종
  있다.
  그 사소한 한 행위가 우리의 인생을 바꿀 수도 있다는 것을 모르는채...
  우리의 인생에서 만나는 사람들은 모두 나름대로 이유를 가지고 일시적으로
  또는 평생 우리에게 다가온다.
  우리는 그들 모두를 소중하게 받아들여야 할 필요가 있다.
